HAPPY 4/13 PEOPLE!
Today was part awesome, and part not-so-awesome. The awesome part was coming across a group of Homestucks in downtown Portland this afternoon. This was my first time ever meeting Homestuck fans in real life, so it was pretty exciting for me. :D I came to Pioneer Square in the hopes of spotting someone with an orange ribbon, and then as soon as I got there I saw a group of people that included a Dave Strider cosplayer. I was like "YES :D" and went to talk to them. They were quite friendly. Some other cosplayers arrived later - a Dirk with a Heart zipper hoodie and a Lil Cal plushie, a Rose, a Jade, an Aradia, a Roxy, and another Dave. They bought a couple of boxes of Faygo, and we used one of the empty bottles to play Spin the Bottle, Hug Edition. At one point, the bottle ended up pointing at a juggling street performer some distance away, and the guy whose turn it was actually ran over, hugged the street performer, and ran away. And then the street performer actually ran back over to us and hugged the guy back. It was hilarious.
As for the not-so-awesome part, it seems I may have to give up this laptop soon. See, the laptop I'm using to type this was given to my mom, who works as a software engineer, back in September to be used to beta-test this anti-theft software the company she works for has created. But since she didn't really feel much of a need for it, and wasn't entirely clear on how she was supposed to be testing the product, she let me have the laptop for the time being. But today, she told me at dinner that the management has grown irritated with how people have been keeping the laptops without reporting any beta testing activity. So they've declared that if we don't start beta testing, we have to give the laptops back.
I'd known from the start that I might have to give it back, but I was really hoping I wouldn't. I've been so spoiled by this computer; it's so much nicer than my other older laptop. It's got way more disk space, it runs faster, it plays games and runs software that my old laptop can't, and MSPA Notifier works way better on it. Plus, at this point it's going to be a pain to transfer all my bookmarks and files onto my old laptop.
So for now, I've agreed to beta the anti-theft software myself so I can keep the laptop longer. I'm not sure how much longer, though. I'm hoping that I can put off having to give it back long enough to get a summer job and save up money for a new laptop.
In completely unrelated news, I hope there's an update tonight. Also, the new album is gr8.
I guess I'll do more of that AT meme now.
